If tag describing a person were attached to everyone in the world that explained positive and negative traits, Veronica’s would include the following. Bully, Pathological Liar, Deceiver, Biased, Bigot, Racist, Abuser, and Poor Communicator. In all of my years with Hopkins as both Faculty and Staff, I never encountered someone incapable of decent communication. When questioned, she lashes out vs. attempting to have a meaningful conversation. I viewed racial and gender bias against many staff and faculty on multiple occasions. Her conflict resolution abilities are on par with an eight year old that throws a tantrum when they don't get what they want. Sadly, I don't believe she has a cognitive understanding of the way she treats subordinates. She needs a strong HR department and leader to help her correct her management issues, and I have no doubt she could be a good leader. My hope is that I won't have to be around to see the positive changes, because after over two years of her management, I have aged at least ten years and experienced abusive stress that I would have hoped to escape before retirement.
