Shelley created an incredibly hostile working environment from the moment she joined the company. She was verbally abusive on a daily basis which resulted in the resignation of ALL of her employees in her department. She held a grudge against all Caucasian, Asian, and Indian employees simply because they weren't black. This likely was exasperated by her failed attempt to sue her previous employer, James Hardie, for wrongful termination on the grounds that she was a African woman, despite the court ruling against her due to the extensive volume of HR reports filed against her by employees alleging harassment. Shelley acts unethically both in her professional and personal life. Her administrative assistant came to me several times questioning falsified expense reports that Shelley asked her to submit. Additionally, she fraudulently filed for a PPP loan during the pandemic while concurrently receiving her full salary as VP of internal audit. She received the maximum payout for her single employee "company" and all of the payments were was fully forgiven. Shelley Akanji should be avoided at all costs and has no place working, let alone leading, an internal audit department.
