To say that Deguines is the worst manager I have ever worked with would be an understatement. Apart from having created and maintained a highly toxic work environement, with a long history of retaliation against anyone who stood up to him, he has perpetrated a laundry list of violations agaist the employees of the club. He has ZERO integrity and is basically a criminal who has stolen and embezzled funds from the employees using invented reasons for illegal docking, reduction of Christmas bonuses as retaliation and other scams. He has also stolen thousands of dollars worth of expensive wines and liquors from the members of the club, while attempting to shift the blame to the bar staff, yet only he and the other managers are the only ones with the key and direct access to the liquor room. He has also stolen time from the employees and has been caught in the act, but with no repercussions whatsoever. His entire managerial staff has also been entirely complicit with his actions, particularly Robert Santucci, his HR rep and they are very likely receiving kickbacks from him in order to ensure their continued loyalty. Deguines is also highly motivated to continue with these crimes due to the fact that his yearly "bonus" consists of him being allowed to keep 75% of everything he "saves" the club. This has basically given him carte blanche to steal. He also committed nepotism, installing his wife as club secretary with an excellent wage package. This was a direct violation of the company rules. He achieved this by removing the company handbook and reprinting a new one minus the no nepotism clause. Once she was in, he returned to the original handbook. While this is a unionionized establishment, the union was generally less than useless, to the point of the workers not having won a single major issue of any kind. The union reps had a disturbing lack of interest in earning their considerable pay. Desguines has also encouraged bullying, harrassment and blatant lying from his managers and he leads by example, even toleratiing sexual harrassment of a female employee and blaming the victim. The list goes on. I would never recommend working at the Knickerbocker Club to anyone. Needless to say, the majority of the club members don't care in the slightest for the welfare of the workers. They just want to continue the status quo. Do not work for this club!
