Daniel is a climber - very nice, but he doesn't really care about anyone but himself. He is over-rated by management and is not a skilled ux designer or strategist. His position is strictly due to skilled use of business-talk and self-positioning. Many good designers left under his reign, and he just doesn't care - just hire more junior ones, whatever. He seems to view people as interchangeable and replaceable. He's a perfect caricature of a bad mid-level manager in corporate America, only concerned with his own advancement and self-absorbed.
