Improve Office Comfort for Happier Employees

A comfortable office can make a big difference to productivity. When your employees are comfortable, it’s easier for them to concentrate on the things that they need to do. They won’t be distracted by chairs that aren’t nice to sit in or lights that are too bright. As an employer, it’s your responsibility to provide a comfortable and healthy workplace for your employees. You need to make sure that your office is a healthy environment that doesn’t cause problems for your office workers. To improve the comfort level in your office and keep your employees happy, you should be doing the following things.

Get the Temperature Right

Setting the temperature at a comfortable level for everyone in the office can be tricky. There will always be people who are too warm or too cold, so you can’t set the perfect temperature for everyone. It’s recommended that you set the office thermostat between 68 and 76 degrees. It’s a good idea to err on the cooler side, as it’s easier for employees to wear extra layers than to remove them if they’re too warm. However, try not to make it too cool. Having a fairly flexible dress code will allow people to wear what feels comfortable to them.

Install the Right Lighting

Office lighting can have a significant effect on comfort and health in the office. Many offices have bright, white lights. They might ensure the office has plenty of lighting, but they can also be much too bright for some people. It’s likely that there’s no need for extremely bright, sharp lighting in your office. A softer color and intensity can probably still provide the lighting that you need. The lights should provide an adequate level of lighting so that people can see their work but should avoid causing eye strain or headaches.

Ensure Comfortable Workspaces

Every office worker should have a comfortable space where they can concentrate on their work. This means ensuring they have ergonomic chairs and desks that they can happily work at all day. Customizable office chairs will ensure all of your office workers have a comfortable seat while they’re working. Making sure they have adjustable desks and chairs so they can put both at the right height is important too. Offering standing desks as an alternative might also be a good idea if you want to give your employees options to find the most comfortable way to work.

Provide Space to Relax

As well as having comfortable places to work, providing comfortable spaces where your employees can relax also makes the office better for them. You might have a staff kitchen area or seating areas for relaxation that they can use during their breaks. These more relaxed spaces can also double up as breakout spaces for people working together in a group or perhaps for people working alone who would like some privacy and quiet away from the rest of the office.

Create a comfortable working environment for your office workers to help improve productivity and happiness in the office.
