I am a person that generally can work with just about anybody, but I cannot and would not ever work for Tarri Ryan again. if fact, other than to tell her exactly what I think of her, I never want to see or talk to her again. First of all, this woman is the micromanagement queen. She will tell you she doesn't micromanage, but this is a bold-faced lie to lull you, or rather the first indication that Tarri has no self-awareness. She communicates with so much condescension it's a surprise you can't see her brain for how far her nose is stuck into the air. She would sell her library and city to corporations like Google if it meant she could brush elbows with people she thinks are 'elite'. During my tenure, a need-based analysis of existing mobile library stops was performed, and when the service relaunched the stop with the lowest need (Google campuses) were prioritized, while the stop with the highest need (Castro school) was cut, despite it being and established stop before. The general feeling seems to be she is prejudiced against Spanish speakers, and perhaps brown people in general as she decided to stop collecting books in Hindi because they 'don't look very nice' despite half the juvenile Hindi collection currently being checked out. She increased purchasing on Russian books after the Russian invasion of Ukraine. She also refused to buy titles with LGBTQIA+ representation and themes for Summer Reading prizes as she claimed "the gay stuff makes it not really feel like a prize". She accuses employees of faking sick behind closed doors while pretending "Oh, it's your time" in meetings and outward facing. Despite half of her librarian team having more library experience than her (she comes from museums which is obvious since the inside of this library is now so sterile and precious it seems like a museum) she doesn't listen to her librarians and their expertise. This boss has effectively forced out at least 3 talented librarians from her department because of her insane micromanaging, distaste for teen services, obsession with how things look over whether or not they are meeting community need, ingrained homomisia, her obvious incompetence, and her overly inflated sense of self importance. If you are truly invested in serving as a librarian, STEER CLEAR of this library, and in particular this manager- you'll learn how to throw money at problems and how Tarri likes her flyers to look, and not much else.
We will send updates of new features, updates to the platform, blog posts, and other cool developments.
