I don’t advise anyone, whether they are new, veteran teacher or in between to work at Dubois Integrity Academy. Not only is the principal terrible, so are the admins that work under her. If you are not one of her puppets, you’re no good to her and deemed unfit to teach at the school. Let’s keep in mind that many of the teachers employed at DIA do not have the credentials to even teach. If you are a church member, family or friend of family and as long as you brown nose, she will make you Dean ( similar to assist principal) and you can possess a simple high school diploma. It’s a charter school so their rules are a bit different . I have watched Payne and her team place individuals in positions to teach or lead teachers , with no related education and/or experience. Most individuals who work in admin at DIA would never be hired in the district as a leader. Many of them don’t have the skill set to be an effective leader. Some of them were even denied admin positions in the district but bc DIA is a dumping ground( which I found out later) individuals wil be hired. Dr . Payne is disrespectful. She will speak to staff in her condescending tone in front of students and coworkers. She claims to be a woman of God but she definitely lacks discernment when knowing to address people and certain situations. She does not know how to engage in effective communication. She Will over talk you, belittle you and depending on her mood dismiss you from your contract. It does not matter if you have factual evidence , a paper trail nothing ! It’s either her way or get out of her school. You can disagree with her if you like and she will either fire you or suggest days without pay. She gets off on withholding pay from her hardworking teachers. I use hardworking lightly because some of the teachers I wouldn’t allow my dog to be in their care. Don’t expect Mr Cason to intervene either. He does whatever Dr Payne suggests. He is just there to sign the check. Major Payne is a menace! You’re better off working for the district. The pay isn’t all that great either; especially for the workload, inability to use YOUR personal days, WORK HOURS, terrible kids, location, and I can’t get over the fact there wasn’t a playground. They had those kids playing in a parking lot. And again, if Major Payne is in one of her moods there is no such thing as kids going outside to play. Dr Payne has been known to also treat employees unfairly based on sexual orientation. As I stated earlier she is a self proclaimed woman of God so if you’re involved in anything outside of what she believes is right, according to her Bible, you out of her school. She will start her unnecessary observations , complain about how you're teaching, and mark your TKES. The instructional coaches are useless. They do not provide any type of support for the teachers Major Payne takes issue with. It’s all a ploy to just get you out her building so don’t expect any guidance. Another issue I have with DIA is being hired for one position but of course your position will change 3-5 times before the school year ends. It’s tiring. I am well aware sometimes changes need to be made but she will move teachers around out of spite. You will never feel settled at DIA unless you’re Dr Payne’s minion and she has quite a few.
