I have over ten years of experience in Asset Protection / Loss Prevention. This particular manager fostered a hostile work environment and was more interested in being a disciplinarian than a mentor, coach, or leader. I am not one to break policy or to engage in non-productive detentions (bad stops), but this manager had me constantly looking over my shoulder and wondering if he would find fault within grey areas, and sure enough, he always did. I felt handcuffed, unable to perform my duties, and personally targeted by this leader. This is a stark contrast to the manager who hired me and focused on empowerment and development of his employees.
I have left my role due to this person, and I am aware of several others who have as well.
