Let me start by saying that Mary is truly a sweet person and i do enjoy her a lot as a colleague. The issue I have with Mary as a leader is that she got promoted into her role of Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DE&I), Talent and Social Impact without barely any experience in either. Our whole team was truly crushed by this as prior to Mary we had a leader coming from an underrepresented background, who had extensive experience in DEI and now, after being acquired by a company that way behind on DEI topics, it just felt like a 180 turn for us. Now more than a year into her role, it's still frustrating working with a leader who has no clue what she's doing.
