An abusive individual who is a Quebec nationalist, her thinly veiled views are complemented by her thinly masked temper and racism. She pits managers against each other, and the managers use her temper and violent inclinations to embarrass, or subjugate employees. This creates a toxic culture in the department, and a constantly rotating class of characters. She would often take her anger out on me, to the point where other people would file complaints. The Fraud department in itself is a chaotic mire of personality disorders trying to gain some sort of advantage over each other. With narcissistic, psychotic managers forming teams, and plotting to take each other down, caught up in their own drama rather than helping advisors on the floor. If a Scotiabank HR rep is reading this, you can find the details in the scheduling, where the department has a history of scheduling the autistic employees that they did not like on weekend and evening shifts exclusively, or in the seating plans where cis white tall men would be seated next to a particular manager as eye candy, but black and brown men are seated away from management. Because they do not understand how to help advisors either through lack of knowledge or empathy, they are constantly delegating out task to senior members of the team. If you are a white woman, you are guaranteed success in this department, and all you have to do is show up. White women are given preference for roles and duties, despite prior experience or other candidates in the department. Recently, An advisor without their high school diploma was made a people manager. Over the past couple of years, I started to grow a backbone, and stood up for myself, and others. In the process, I was targeted for firing. The managers underneath her did several illegal things such as refusing to allow me to go vote in the recent Canadian Federal Election, or refusing to give me time off to deal with bed bugs in my appartement. They also refused to give me vacation until a week before I was fired, interfered in the hiring process when I was applying to other roles to Tangerine (which is technically another bank, but Scotia owns them), and were not properly reporting overtime that people did, often either delaying payment of overtime pay, or refusing to give it. The sign out front of the building is always advertising for help, and it is no wonder. Stay away from the Walkley call center. Stay away from Scotiabank as a potential employer.
